Music and Choir

Chancel Choir

Choir Director David Buckley, along with the Melrose Senior Choir leads the congregation in hymn-singing, and contributes to the worship with music. You will also hear solos, duets, trios (and up!) from within the choir's talented ranks.

Choir rehearsals begin on Thursday evenings from September to May at 7:00 p.m.  If you feel inspired, please contact David Buckley, Director of Music, or chat with any of the choir members if you are interested in joining!

NOTE:  Regular Choir, Youth Chorus and Guitar Class practices are currently finished for the season but summer practices will take place on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.  Anyone is welcome to join us....even for one morning.

Youth Chorus

These groups meet on Thursday evenings.  There is a:

  • Guitar Class from 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for ages 9 to 19
  • Youth Chorus practice from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A short, sugarless treat and fellowship time follows practices.  On Sunday mornings an all-ages practice takes place at 9:30 a.m.  Youth, you are welcome to join us and tell some friends.  Please speak to Anca or Dave Buckley if you have any questions, or would like to participate.

Irish and Hip-Hop Dancing Classes

NOTE:  These classes are currently finished for the season.  Watch for start-up dates for September.

Hip-Hop dance class take place on Monday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

Irish dance classes are held on Monday evenings, from 6:00  p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Organ

The chancel is blessed with a splendid Casavant organ, which fills the sanctuary with sound!

Piano

Melrose has use of the Hamilton Duet Club's Grand Piano, which is located in front of the chancel and is often used during services.

Handbell Choirs

Members of the congregation also participate in Junior (featuring members of our Sunday School) and Senior choirs with Handbells which can often be heard during special services.
